Our story began in the lively streets of Berlin's Kreuzberg district, where we, Cosmo and Jakob, first met at the age of six. It took until third grade, however, for this encounter to develop into a deep friendship that remains like a brotherly bond to this day. This special bond has led us through life together—through ups and downs, successes and failures.

We decided early on to leave the traditional school system behind and embark on our own journey. With big dreams and passion, we tried many things, but often lacked a connection to our ideas, and so we repeatedly failed. These times weren't easy, but while we were going through a phase of disorientation, we found solace in a shared passion: cooking. It was more than just a hobby—it became our balance, a place of calm and creativity amidst the uncertainty.

In addition to cooking, we both shared a love of aesthetics and unique, high-quality products. And it was precisely this predilection that eventually led us to a completely new idea. Through Jakob's father, Norbert, a skilled wood designer with over 40 years of experience, our interest in wood grew. The cutting board on which we prepared our dishes increasingly became the focus. What began as a personal project—designing absurdly elaborate and artistic boards for our own kitchen—soon transformed into a vision: our own cutting board factory.

A conversation with Norbert brought clarity: We would turn this dream into reality. In his Kreuzberg workshop, he began bringing our ideas to life with craftsmanship perfection. And so, on August 27, 2024, the time had finally come: "Bretter" was born.

The result is more than just a company – it is the product of our shared passion, our friendship and our long-standing search for what truly fulfills us.
